ˇ§I strongly believe that the Chinese market can be best approached hand-in-hand with Hong Kong businessmen. Hong Kong is uniquely placed as one of the most modern market economies in the world, but at the same time its business community knows the peculiarities of doing business in the rapidly developing mainland. It seems certain that the increased pace of Chinaˇ¦s liberalisation will make Hong Kongˇ¦s role as a bridge between mainland China and the rest of the world even more important than before. I believe this is a role that Hong Kong is most fit and able to fulfil.ˇ¨
