The Electronics Fair mirrors the history of the electronics industry in Hong Kong and overseas says chairman of the TDC's Electronics/Electrical Appliances Industry Advisory Committee Allan Wong.

According to Mr Wong, who is also chairman of Vtech Holdings Ltd, the event reflects what Hong Kong manufacturers have gone through.

ˇ§The Electronics Fair has enabled the industry to showcase products in the middle and high end markets, and also helps to demonstrate Hong Kongˇ¦s advantages of scale, price and quality on the world stage.ˇ¨

Mr Wong said that over the years, the fair has helped to position Hong Kong in the best markets in the world, such as the US. ``It is a great meeting place for international buyers and exhibitors, for new product launches and for discovering new trends.ˇ¨

He further added: ˇ§In times of world economic slowdown, the fair still gives us strategic advantages, particularly in that it displays our products in a most professional manner to the buyers in the marketplace that now concerns us most of all ˇV the Chinese mainland.ˇ¨

Dr M.W. Lui, vice-president of the Chinese Manufacturers Association, said the Electronics Fair is one way to tell the world what Hong Kong has to offer.

ˇ§The world knows that the Electronics Fair is one place where the latest products can be purchased by negotiation. Combine this unique advantage with the view of the industry presented by such features as the ever-expanding China pavilion, and you can discern the elements of a winning formula that will run well into the future.ˇ¨
