Hong Kong is a safe, reliable platform for Swedish companies wishing to do business in the Chinese mainland, according to Hong Kong Trade Development Council (TDC) Chairman Peter Woo.
ˇ§Hong Kong reduces uncertainty, because everything we do is predictable, reliable and nowadays, just-in-time,ˇ¨ said Mr Woo. ˇ§Risk is greatly reduced by doing business with Hong Kong. I believe Hong Kong is the right trade services platform, the right partner and now clearly is the right time.ˇ¨
Mr Woo was speaking at a business luncheon in Stockholm on 20 March 2002, as part of a five-day trip to Europe to promote Hong Kong as a trade platform and business partner for the Chinese mainland, especially now China is opening its markets after accession to the World Trade Organisation (WTO). The trip, organised by TDC, also included visits to Amsterdam and Rome.
