| Laura Clarke of Restaurant Events says Hong Kong was "an easy and obvious choice" to host the first international conference for top-end establishments |

Hong Kong's reputation as Asia's culinary capital has prompted the inaugural Restaurant and Bar Exhibition
, to be held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre
from October 29 - 31.
Recognising the needs of top-end establishments, hospitality industry decision-makers and buyers will come from around the world to network, advise and learn from each other in one of the great culinary markets in the region.
"Hong Kong was chosen as the venue for the first restaurant and bar exhibition for a number of reasons, but primarily because it is regarded as the heart of South East Asia," said Laura Clarke, operations/marketing manager for the exhibition organiser Restaurant Events Limited.
"Hong Kong is within five hours flying time of most major Asian cities, and with its international reputation as the culinary capital of the region, it was an easy and obvious choice."
This new exhibition targets decision-makers from high quality outlets, be they independents, a member of a group or part of a large multinational chain. It will combine a unique blend of exhibitors with a highly relevant programme of
attractions, workshops and demonstrations, making it a must-attend for all involved in the industry.
Over 200 exhibitors from around the world have confirmed their attendance, from the smallest suppliers to large brand leaders. Wine companies, food suppliers, equipment manufacturers, tableware providers, design services and beverage distributors will network to further promote this ever-expanding industry in the Asia-Pacific.
"Quite simply, there was no niche event in the region for top-end hospitality," Ms Clarke said. "There are existing events, such as HOFEX and the Food Expo, which also have specific target markets, but for some reason the top-end had been neglected."
Programme highlights at Restaurant&Bar Hong Kong will include the Chef Masterclasses, where Hong Kong's leading chefs will be stepping into the spotlight to demonstrate their skills and pass on their knowledge and enthusiasm for their art. Participants from such notable establishments as Gaddi's at the Peninsula, Petrus Shangri-La, Toscana Ritz-Carlton and Yu Inter-Continental, will conduct 45-minute demonstrations with a wide range of cuisines and dishes being prepared over the course of the shows.
Other exhibition highlights include the Barry Callabaut Chocolate Theatre, the Cocktail Demonstration Theatre, the Wine Tasting Theatre and the prestigious Mille Chateaux Fine Wine Auction 2002.
"The time is right in Hong Kong for an event of this calibre and I think attendees will be pleasantly surprised with the international representation from all facets of the high-end trade in attendance," added Ms Clarke.
