TDC's award-winning web site is easy to use and full of useful information, according to the competition judges
The Internet website of the Trade Development Council, www.tdctrade.com was recently awarded the Standard of Excellence in the Webaward competition organised by Boston-based Web Marketing Association (WMA).

The judges commented that "this site is incredibly organised and intuitive, which is outstanding for its sheer size and number of partnerships".

They also noted that "the site is full of useful information that's relevant to the international appeal of Hong Kong".

The judges added: "What an excellent tool for the business person or company that wants to learn about trade in the Far East."

The record 1,300 sites entered in the 2002 Webaward competition were divided into 78 industry categories. From a possible score of 70, the TDC site received a high score of 59.5. The judges were impressed by the site's ability to "put the less important but still desirable information, such as weather and (stock) quotes, in its easy-to-access sidebar, adding this is something that few American portals do.

"If there are things that one would recommend, it would be branding and the use of client-side technology. The site is very urban and upbeat," the judges said.

WMA was founded in 1997 to help set a high standard for Internet marketing and corporate web development on the World Wide Web. The US organisation is made up of Internet marketing, advertising, PR and design professionals.

Some past winners of the Webaward competition have included British Airways, Sara Lee, IBM China, Disney Online, Oracle and Fedex.
