A leading Australian provider of IT outsourcing services KAZ Group Ltd has entered into a joint-venture with SAR-based Tradelink Electronic Commerce Ltd, citing Hong Kong's advanced IT infrastructure as one of the main reasons for its presence here.

The new company, KAZ Computer Services Hongkong Ltd (KAZ HK) will serve as KAZ Group's regional headquarters for Northern Asia and Greater China. It recently set up its data centre in Shau Kei Wan.

Managing director Timothy Murphy said: "With more and more companies and governments focusing on improving efficiency, there is growing interest in the fully serviced outsourcing model that KAZ offers. We believe this creates a significant business opportunity for us in Hong Kong."

He added: "Hong Kong offers a stable business environment, which makes it a very secure place for KAZ to establish its business. We also believe that Hong Kong's advanced IT infrastructure makes it an attractive location for companies that want to consolidate their Asian IT operations."

Invest Hong Kong's associate director-general of investment promotion John Rutherford welcomed the establishment of KAZ HK. He said: "This investment demonstrates the growing importance of Hong Kong as a regional service hub for the IT industry. With its quality workforce and first-rate infrastructure, Hong Kong is the ideal place for multinational IT companies to establish a regional base."

Invest Hong Kong is a government department tasked with attracting foreign investment to the SAR.
