Upmarket Italian fashion retailer Armani Group has recently opened a 3,000 square metre flagship store in Hong Kong, the company's largest in the world outside its base in Milan.
The megastore located in Central in the heart of Hong Kong's financial district offers a unique location for an Armani world under one roof. The president and chief executive of the Armani Group, Giorgio Armani, said: "Hong Kong is one of the most cosmopolitan and vibrant cities in the world. Through its special legal and trading status is still an important gateway to China - a marketplace with unrivalled future potential."
The "total lifestyle concept" store features the top-of-the-line Giorgio Armani boutique, the Emporio Armani boutique for young professionals, a café, flower shop and a cosmetics boutique. Italian architects Claudio Silvestrin and Massimiliano Fuksas add a distinct Armani touch.
The Armani Group opened its first store in Hong Kong in 1982. Last year, Hong Kong was chosen to set up its regional headquarters for Asia. President of Giorgio Armani Asia Pacific Jakob Meier said that Hong Kong has been and will remain an important retail centre. "There is a large base of well-dressed, affluent consumers in Hong Kong and at the same time, tourists from all over Asia continue to pass through Hong Kong."
With a strong foothold in the SAR, the company is firmly committed to expanding its presence both in Hong Kong and the mainland. The group's retail network currently comprises a total of 262 stores and boutiques in 34 countries.
