The company, a member of Hong Kong-based multinational group Gold Peak, says Hong Kong is the ideal launch pad for its ULTI system and a springboard to other markets in the region. "Hong Kong is the ideal place to launch, because it is a mature and sophisticated market with a great demand for products like ULTI," said Clipsal's ULTI division general manager Michael Lam. "The product will first be available in Hong Kong, quickly followed by mainland China and then other Asian markets." Technological advancement has enabled the system to lower the cost of centralised lighting control considerably, putting those special effects once the realm of top hotels, upmarket homes or conference rooms within the reach of householders and SMEs. It is a simple solution for re-inventing existing interiors and is designed to be compatible with common electrical wiring standards, so no rewiring is required. Hong Kong + PRD a model of success
"It works well because in Hong Kong we have good access to the huge markets of China and the region, and our manufacturing base is in Huizhou only two hours away from the border," Mr Lam said. "Hong Kong is one of the top 10 trading cities and the top five financial centres in the world. Its infrastructure is well built and the logistics, services and marketing support is all there." Clipsal's target is the high-end residential apartment, hotel and corporate market, and Mr Lam adds that "we never fall short of this kind of customer in Hong Kong". "Hong Kong is a very international city and all the multinational companies are here. The people like adopting new technologies and lifestyle products, it is part of the Hong Kong consumer pattern." After Hong Kong, Mr Lam says China "will be our next move" - expected before June - followed by Singapore and Malaysia in the second half of the year. "We are very focussed on this product. Using Hong Kong as our first point of launch in the region, we think we will create a trend in the market and a leadership position in changing the way lighting systems are used." Related links:
