A large-scale promotional event featuring product exhibitions and designer shows of more than 200 Hong Kong brand names was launched recently in Beijing. The launch marked the start of the Style Hong Kong promotion aimed at reinforcing the quality of Hong Kong brands in fashion accessories, leather goods, timepieces and footwear.
Organised by the Trade Development Council (TDC), the four-day event (25-28 March) will showcase Hong Kong products in the Chinese mainland by promoting the Hong Kong lifestyle to the mainland's increasingly affluent consumers. Participating companies such as Bossini and Giordano already have a strong presence in the mainland.
TDC's executive director Michael Sze said that Style Hong Kong would be the Council's annual key promotional event in Beijing. The next step would be to extend the promotion to other mainland cities with rising consumer power. "It is a two prong strategy where TDC will help Hong Kong brands to open up their distribution channels in the mainland and secondly, help to build their brands there."

Hong Kong's innovative designs and high quality attracted UK buyers at a recent London promotion
|
Style Hong Kong comes hot on the heels of two successful international events in London and New York earlier this year. In February, 34 Hong Kong companies took centre stage at the SAS Radisson Hotel in London presenting their latest casual clothing to buyers and importers from UK and Ireland.
In the same month, Hong Kong showcased collections from seven of its leading designers at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Fall 03 in New York. It was the third time that the TDC organised promotion showed off Hong Kong's fashion talent and innovation to the sophisticated US market. This promotion underlined Hong Kong's emergence as a creative force in the global fashion business.
