The grandest French festival in Asia takes centre stage (21 April - 31 May) when Hong Kong hosts Le French May for the 11th consecutive year.
Showcasing a range of classical and contemporary arts, the festival has evolved into one of the premier cultural events in Hong Kong, and a benchmark for the region.
According to co-ordinator Patrick Coustance, cultural attache Consulate General of France, Hong Kong's dynamism is the main reason for its growth.
"Hong Kong is a very international place, and therefore very open to other cultures," he said.
"It is such a dynamic city that it is easier here than in other places to achieve things and to mount important events such as this. We find partners who are willing to help and participate, and we can mobilise synergy with other cultural and business organisations."
As audiences continue to grow every year, so too does their diversity. No longer are the performances mainly enjoyed by expatriates, but also by an increasing number of Chinese people.
The artistes, also, like coming to Hong Kong, where the reaction of audiences is always welcoming. "It is one of their favourite places in the world," Mr Coustance said.

Le Ballet de Lorraine will present Rave, an explosive performance of contemporary dance

"We can easily get the top artistes, because they really want to come here. Hong Kong has a very prestigious reputation in France. People see it as a modern, avant garde place, with a vision of the future, and the international side of Hong Kong also helps to create that positive image."
A main attraction this year is the Napoleon exhibition - a first for Hong Kong - incorporating 200 French and West European works of applied art which chronicle the lifetime of the legendary general and emperor of the French. It will be staged at the Hong Kong Museum of History for an extended period, from April 30 - June 29.
Other highlights include two major dance programmes, featuring contemporary dance by Le Ballet de Lorraine, an explosive mix of techno party, fashion show and classical ballet; and baroque performances of The Masked Ballet by The Company of the Fan, danced to music by Vivaldi and Lully.
The musical programme features young artiste Tedi Papavrami, one of the top violinists in France, appearing on May 10 with the Hong Kong Sinfonietta. Jazz pianist Bojan Z, acclaimed as one of the most talented and inventive pianists of his generation, will also perform on one night only, May 2.
A French wine festival at the Dynasty Club (May 31) and an exhibition of French modern design at the Fringe Club (May 17 - June 5) further demonstrate the diversity of the event.
