Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) has been named Cargo Airport of the Year for the second year in succession at the industry's equivalent of the Oscars.

The prestigious award is organised by the UK-based publication Air Cargo News and based on votes cast by its 100,000 readers around the world. HKIA is selected for its "quality customer services, flexible time slots, consistent investment in new facilities and infrastructures, innovation in applying technology, and a liberal approach to traffic right."

HKIA's Dr David Pang at a recent groundbreaking ceremony for the Express Cargo Terminal says the award reflects HKIA's innovation and improvement in cargo handling. "It is good to be able to announce the award when we are marking the groundbreaking for yet another new cargo facility at HKIA, the Express Cargo Terminal which is being developed by DHL Worldwide Express."

The award, celebrating its 20th anniversary, was made at a black-tie dinner at London's Royal Lancaster Hotel, attended by 600 international industry leaders.
