US application infrastructure software company BEA Systems has expanded its Asia Pacific regional headquarters in Hong Kong demonstrating its confidence in the SAR as an operations base to manage business development around the region.
Senior vice president and general manager of BEA Systems Asia Pacific, Garrett Ilg, said the Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement (Cepa) generated many opportunities for IT solution service providers. "With many Hong Kong based enterprises preparing to leverage opportunities generated by Cepa, we believe that an efficient service delivery through the deployment of IT solutions will be a critical success factor."
Mr Ilg added: "BEA Systems is well positioned to help these companies increase their productivity and shorten the project cycles through one single platform."
Based in California, the company relocated its regional headquarters from Australia to Hong Kong in 2001. Mr Ilg said Hong Kong's location at the heart of Asia, offers them proximity to their key markets. "Hong Kong's sophisticated financial and legal systems have created a world-class business environment to facilitate our growing business in the region."
BEA Systems' Asia Pacific headquarters is responsible for Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, ASEAN countries and Australia. It overseas the human resource, administration and finance functions, and houses the regional and local sales and marketing teams, the business solution group and technical training experts. The newly expanded office will allow BEA Systems to host its regional events and meetings in Hong Kong.
InvestHK, the investment promotion arm of the HKSAR Government assisted BEA Systems in its expansion in Hong Kong.
