The company, whose extraordinary laser, lighting, special effect and water feature technology is enjoyed by millions at Laservision installations around the world. The talent behind the spectacular light shows is currently being seen at Hong Kong special events including numerous private and government functions. Now Laservision, already a strong brand in Asia, has set up an office in Hong Kong as a base for expansion in the region. "Hong Kong is a large source of business for the company," marketing manager Miles Pepperall said. "The Asia-Pacific has always been the primary target for Laservision and will continue to be well into the future. "It was important for the company to establish in Hong Kong due to the magnitude of business at the moment. A strong relationship has been formed with the Hong Kong government and Laservision looks forward to future prospects." Practical solution for expansion Hong Kong was "definitely a practical solution" for extending the Laservision office overseas, Mr Pepperall added. "The people, prospects, technology and ease of setting up communication systems have ensured the inclusion of the company's resources into Hong Kong have been a straightforward process," he said. Company founder Paul McCloskey began to imagine the possibilities for lasers in the late 1970s. By 1984 he had invented and patented a unique and innovative method to harness the power of laser energy. A recipient of the Australian government's Entrepreneur of The Year award, Mr McCloskey continues to invent and is head of the Laservision Research and Development facility in Sydney, Australia. It recently won the Innovation Award at the AustCham ANZ Australian Business Awards 2003. Last August, the Hong Kong Tourism Commission commissioned Laservision to devise a lighting plan for Victoria Harbour. The plan's innovative techniques, including scenic projection and intelligent lighting, all overlaid with laser animation, will be showcased at the Chinese New Year celebrations in January. Mr McCloskey said that devising the light show for Hong Kong's Victoria Harbour - one of the most spectacular harbours in the world - is a creditable achievement. "What excites our team even more is that the technology produced here in Australia as a joint venture between Laservision and the Australian Government will be showcased for this epic event in Hong Kong."
