Advanced Analogic Technologies Inc (AATI), a semiconductor company based in Silicon Valley, will move into the Hong Kong Science Park in December and use it as a base for Asian expansion.
AATI's vice president of worldwide manufacturing and operations Allen Lam explained why the company chose the Hong Kong Science Park. "Now with a strong customer base, rapidly increasing sales and broadening product range, it is perfect timing to expand our operations and engineering activities in Hong Kong and move into our brand new home in the Hong Kong Science Park," Mr Lam said.
The company's CEO and chief technical officer Richard K Williams added: "We fully expect to see product engineering and test programme development to evolve in our Hong Kong operations. Furthermore the proximity of the Science Park to Shenzhen inspires our team to direct our sales activities toward China, especially in the nearby Pearl River Delta."
Mike Rowse director general of investment promotion at InvestHK, a government agency tasked with attracting inward investment said AATI's decision to start a base in the Science Park is a testimony to its "very good infrastructural support" and to "Hong Kong's good overall business environment."
Established in 1997, AATI is targeting at extending battery life, improving reliability, and reducing the size and weight of new design based on analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits.
