To celebrate 20 years of presence in Hong Kong, the German Chamber of Commerce (GCC) has come up with an innovative photo book of its members' products and services as seen through the lens of the SAR's photographers.
GCC executive director Ekkehard Goetting said the participation of more than 70 non professional Hong Kong photographers has produced "a very good cross section of the members' activities in various aspects such as technology, infrastructure, lifestyle, professional services, aviation and more."
"Twenty years ago, the Chamber started with six members. The membership rose to 128 in the first year and now has more than 400 today. We are proud that GCC 's membership includes international, German, and Chinese companies and individual membership as well," said Mr Goetting.

"The main reasons for the substantial increase in the presence of German companies in Hong Kong have been Hong Kong's attractiveness as a gateway to China and other regional markets, the ease of setting up operations, the liberal regime and the secure legal system," he added.
Mr Goetting said the "continuous promotional efforts and convincing case studies of success stories which we keep presenting in Germany as well as raising the awareness of the importance of the South China region has given a wake up call to German companies back home."
Germany has a substantial investment in Hong Kong. According to the Census and Statistics Department, total direct investment from Germany amounted to US$2 billion at the end of 2001. There were 52 German companies with regional headquarters in Hong Kong while another 96 had regional offices as of 1 June 2002.
