The Internet portal site of the Trade Development Council (TDC) recently won an outstanding award for its skilful use of information technology to address its business objectives.

tdctrade.com launched in early 2000 was awarded the prestigious prize "The Intelligent20Award" which was organised by trade fair organiser group CMP Asia. The trade portal site was described as "the preferred first stop in cyberspace for anyone doing trade in Hong Kong, the Chinese mainland and the wider region."

Held annually, the Intelligent20 Award recognises 20 organisations' outstanding accomplishments in using information technology to facilitate their business objectives.

The panel of judges said tdctrade.com excelled in most performance indicators for evaluating the entries. They pointed out specifically that tdctrade.com achieved outstanding skills in clearly defined business goals, had a high level of senior management support and had proven benefits to target users.

Previous years' winners of the award have included Bank of America, Singapore Telecommunications, Citibank, JP Morgan Chase and Pioneer Electronics.

The honour came on the heels of two other recent awards - the Webaward given by US-based Web Marketing Association and the best trade promotion website in Asia in a survey conducted by AC Nielsen in May 2003.
