| China appeal draws international buyers to Hong Kong trade fairs ( 01/02/2004 ) | |||||||||
"We were particularly pleased with the amount of business we did with Chinese buyers," said Frederic Ivart, sales director of Swedish sportswear brand, Rohnisch. "We were also pleased with the quality of garments available in Hong Kong," said Mr Ivart who exhibited at the Hong Kong Fashion Week [Jan 13-16]. Florence Chenard, president of French jewellery manufacturer Chenard Alexandre, agreed. "The amazing economic expansion of the Chinese mainland makes Hong Kong a very attractive base for accessing opportunities in that market," she said. Ms Chenard also highlighted the international flavour of the event. "So many different nationalities of buyers come to Hong Kong, not only from the Chinese mainland and Asia, but also from the Americas, Europe and Australia." Fashion Week was the second major trade fair of the year, following the Hong Kong Toys & Games fair, which attracted 1,800 exhibitors from around the world.
