Hong Kong's open economy and strategic geographic position provides exciting opportunities for entrepreneurs and industrialists, according to chairman and chief executive of Johnson Electric Holdings Ltd, Mr Patrick Wang. Mr Wang was the winner of the Industrialist of the Year Award 2003, organised by the Federation of Hong Kong Industries.
"Hong Kong offers a wealth of knowledge and experience with regard to manufacturing, trading and services," said Mr Wang. "The local economy is already well integrated into the global economy, while the territory's excellent infrastructure makes it a natural inbound - outbound centre for southern China's major manufacturing base.
Johnson Electric provides micromotors and integrated motor systems to global customers in the automotive, power tools, home appliances, business equipment, audio-visual and personal care sectors.
"We are the growth leader in the motor industry, and as such we are number one in some markets and a strong challenger in most others," explained Mr Wang. We leveraged the low cost base in south China by building a manufacturing complex with over 80 suppliers located within or around it, allowing us to serve global markets competitively."
"We have also established centers of excellence around the world, in the fields of research and development, sales and marketing, and technical support, and remain responsive to new opportunities and challenges," said Mr Wang.
