Savour the experience of exceptional shopping and dining at Hong Kong International Airport's lavishly revamped SkyMart

Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) now ranks among Asia's top airports for world-class dining, according to UK-based global airport food and retail service specialists Select Service Partners Limited (SSP).

SSP runs 13 franchise outlets at the airport, which recently unveiled a HK$600 million (US$77 million) renovation of SkyMart, HKIA's dining, shopping and leisure precinct.

SkyMart now boasts 160 shops, including 25 high-end international brands, along with 40 restaurants.

"Hong Kong now has one of the best F&B selections of any airport in Asia," said Daren Lau, SSP's general manager of operations, Asia Pacific.  "There really is something for everyone - for every budget and taste.

"With such a choice of outlets now on both sides of immigration, the airport has become a fantastic venue for wining and dining in its own right - either to kick-start a holiday or prepare for an important business trip".

Premier hub for South East Asia

Igor's Group, which runs a string of restaurants in Hong Kong and Singapore, said it was "very excited" to open a new Wildfire, its sixth establishment, in the new SkyMart.

"Hong Kong International is the premier airport hub for South East Asia," Christopher Lenz, founder and CEO of Igor's Group, said. "As the economy returns to a growth trend, passenger activity should increase to beyond pre-Sars levels. We hope that our presence here will add additional life and colour to the dining experience at the airport."

CEO of Airport Authority Hong Kong, Dr David J. Pang, agreed SkyMart has further strengthened HKIA as a destination in its own right. "We are confident that more travellers, especially those going to and from the Chinese mainland, will take advantage of our international connectivity and fly via Hong Kong," he said.

"We can truly boast that SkyMart captures the best in East meeting West," added commercial director Hans Bakker. "Top international brands have been brought in to satisfy the shopping needs of high-spending, brand-conscious customers from the mainland, Taiwan, Japan and Korea. Our new facilities will ensure they carry home a fulfilling and exciting airport experience."

The new restaurants at SkyMart include fine dining establishments Cafe Deco (a franchise of Hong Kong icon Cafe Deco at The Peak), TORO Bar & Seafood House, and Champions Sports Bar.

A world first for luxury brands

Top name designer brands complete the airport's new retail line-up

Luxury retail brands with outlets in the new SkyMart include Baccarat, Ralph Lauren, Shanghai Tang and Tiffany & Co - each choosing HKIA to launch their first airport shops in the world - along with Bally, Burberry, Chanel, Christian Dior, Ermenegildo Zegna, Gucci, Hermes, Prada, Ralph Lauren and Salvatore Ferragamo

Hong Kong International Airport has been voted Airport of the Year for the fourth consecutive year, in two recent global surveys. Around 20 million visitors are expected to come to Hong Kong this year, more than half of them from the mainland. Mr Bakker said latest airport revamp was the result of continuous surveys and passenger feedback aimed at providing still better customer service.
