Kristin Lu Stout, CNN anchor for its new technology show Spark says Hong Kong is the ideal place to launch the new series as the city is very tech savvy
Cyberport, Hong Kong's IT flagship, will be the spectacular location for CNN's new international technology TV programme Spark.

Anchored out of CNN's Hong Kong-based Asia-pacific headquarters, the new tech show offers an in-depth look at how technologies and innovations affect the way people live and do business.

Kristie Lu Stout, anchor for Spark said the state-of-the-art Cyberport is perfect as a backdrop for a hi-tech show about technology and innovation. "It is a world-class infrastructure with a variety of colours, texture, wood, glass and titanium."

Among many facilities, Cyberport operates a multi-million dollar Digital Media Centre for the creative digital multimedia industry in Hong Kong.

Hong Kong Cyberport recently won the internationally acclaimed Intelligent Building of the Year Award 2004 in New York city
Cyberport recently won the internationally acclaimed  "Intelligent Building of the Year  Award 2004" in New York City. It was given by the Intelligent Community Forum, a special interest group within the World Teleport Association to commercial buildings that have used broadband and information systems technology to add demonstrable value in the form of advanced services and merits to its tenants.

Ms Stout said Spark may be an international show but the Asian perspective is very important for two reasons. "A lot of technology is manufactured out of Asia and a lot of intellectual property stuff which you don't see in North America and Europe is happening in China, Japan and South Korea. The tech market is also very savvy in Hong Kong. This is where it's all happening in mobile phones, flat screen TV, Internet penetration and PCs."

She added that interesting and innovative work is done in Hong Kong "which you don't see elsewhere."

"Hong Kong Science and Technology Park has one of the world's leading nanotechnology research centres, Hong Kong City University is doing remarkable work combining arts and technology and Hong Kong Poly University has wonderful facilities and research on video games," said Ms Stout.
