US technology company Cypress Semiconductor Corp recently set up an Asian operations centre in Hong Kong to expand its presence in the Asia Pacific.
Cypress' Asian business has more than doubled in the last three years alone, totalling 40 per cent of revenue today. Paul Novell, managing director of Asian Operations at Cypress said the Asian centre in Hong Kong would enable Cypress to create products tailored for local markets in the Chinese mainland, Taiwan and Korea leveraging its expertise in low-power technology for mobile devices. "Our new operation roots Cypress more firmly into the fastest-growing technology and economic centres in the world," said Mr Novell. "The Asian business unit will enable us to respond to the market on a real-time basis, customizing our products, optimising our distribution and channel relationships, and providing our local customers with higher-quality technical support."
