FILMART 2005 is an anchor event within the new Entertainment Expo, a mega event bringing together film and TV programming, film financing, a film festival, and music and digital entertainment
Over 300 international exhibitors will take part in FILMART 2005, one of eight major events at the inaugural Entertainment Expo (March 22 - April 6) showcasing Hong Kong's leading film, digital entertainment and music events under one roof.

FILMART, or the Hong Kong International Film & TV Market (March 22-24), has over the years become an important business-to-business platform in the international entertainment film calendar. This year's event with its theme on multi-media convergence will see movie and television professionals, producers and distributors from around the world show products, network and negotiate deals.

"We hope this year's theme on multi-media convergence will communicate to exhibitors and buyers that Hong Kong is at the forefront of growth and excellence in the areas of digital entertainment and film-related services," said Raymond Yip, services promotion director of the Trade Development Council (TDC), organiser of FILMART.

Exciting programme under one roof

Entertainment Expo promises an exciting programme. There are special screenings of Asian movie premieres, a special "Japan Night", a "French Day" with seminars hosted by leading French veterans, a grand opening party at the city's entertainment landmark Lan Kwai Fong, and a film financing forum.

The Hong Kong-Asia Film Financing Forum is modelled on the International Film Festival CineMart in Rotterdam, the world's most celebrated film market fair launched 21 years ago. More than 450 filmmakers and financiers are expected to attend this year's movie "match-making" forum.

Mr Yip said CineMart would provide a relaxing atmosphere for filmmakers and financiers to talk about their goals. "It is not just for one project but to build a long term relationship," he said in Rotterdam.

The second annual Digital Entertainment Leadership Forum (DELF2005), an important annual event for Hong Kong's digital entertainment industry, will also be held concurrently with FILMART on March 23 at Hong Kong's Information and Technology flagship Cyberport.
