| Global sourcing hub presents premier Spring fairs ( 01/04/2005 ) | |||||||||
Organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the Electronics Fair (Spring Edition), Asia's largest and most comprehensive electronics industry event (14-17 April) is expected to build on the success of last year's inaugural fair that attracted over 38,000 visitors from 143 countries and regions. According to a survey at the last Electronics Fair, hot electronic items in demand by buyers in 2005 are environmentally friendly and slimline products. "Survey results showed an average 70 per cent of survey respondents said green electronic products were growing in popularity in their markets with Europeans and North Americans identified as among the greenest," explained Anne Chick, HKTDC's senior exhibitions manager. Shorter product cycles make sourcing urgent Next on the Spring events calendar are the Houseware Fair (21-24 April) and the Gifts and Premium Fair (28 April-1 May), Asia's largest trade fairs of their kind. More than 3,500 exhibitors from 33 countries and regions taking part at the Gifts and Premium Fair will present buyers from around the world with novelty ideas and creative products. Ms Chick said that with rapid changes in industry trends and with the cycle of product development, manufacturing and marketing becoming shorter and shorter, these two fairs are "must attend" events in every international fair calendar. "It has never been more important for manufacturers and buyers to stay abreast of market trends," she added. All the graphs are up at the two TDC organised fairs held at the beginning of 2005. Visitors arrivals rose16 per cent at the Hong Kong Toys and Games Fair (January 14) while attendance at the Hong Kong International Jewellery Show (March 4) surged over 7 per cent when compared to 2004. With these strong results, 2005 looks set to be another promising year for trade fairs. Click here for a full list of TDC events April May June July | |||||||||
