US hitech company selects Hong Kong ( 01/07/2005 )

US-based SimpleTech  a company that specialises in designing, manufacturing and marketing memory and storage solutions, recently announced that the company has chosen Hong Kong for its Asia-Pacific regional headquarters.

Hong Kong's advantage as the gateway to China and its Western-style business infrastructure are the important factors that drove the company's decision. Serving as regional headquarters and providing a local presence in one of the world's fastest growing regions, the new Hong Kong office is responsible for field applications engineering, sales, procurement, distribution and engineering support.

SimpleTech's chairman and CEO, Manouch Moshayedi, said: "Our new office is a key step in expanding SimpleTech's presence in this fast growing region. It will also support our efforts to expand revenue growth."

"Our regional headquarters will provide localised coordination of our global supply chain management, logistics and customer support. We expect to offer a higher level of customer and sales support within Asia-Pacific."

The director-general of Investment Promotion at Invest Hong Kong, Mike Rowse, Said Hong Kong continues to attract technology companies like SimpleTech to set up their regional bases.

"The high concentration of international companies in Hong Kong has created a natural client base for solutions providers. And from customer servicing and retention point of view, companies can provide instant and direct services to their clients as most of the multinational customers are likely to have operations here," said Mr Rowse.

Founded in 1990, SimpleTech has more than 400 employees and is publicly traded on NASDAQ. With headquarters in Santa Ana, California, the company offers a comprehensive line of more than 2,500 products. It specialises in developing high performance and high-density memory modules, memory cards and storage products.
