Small and medium-sized enterprises from more than 37 countries will converge in Hong Kong for the World SME Expo in November
A strong French delegation of over 100 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) will join thousands of SMEs from more than 37 countries to network and explore global business opportunities at the World SME Expo in Hong Kong this fall.

Organised by the Trade Development Council (TDC), this three-day event held from November 21 - 23 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, will bring together under one roof SMEs from overseas, the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong.

Other related agencies such as trade support service providers, industry associations, government departments, consulates, and trade and investment promotion organisations from around the world will offer a wide range of SME-focused services at the mega event.

This year's World SME Expo is expected to generate a great deal of interest following the success of last year's SME Expo which attracted 28,500 visitors from 63 countries including 3,000 from the mainland.

Business of Design Week will once again feature speakers of international renown

Countries like France, the UK, US and Canada will be organising big national pavilions at the expo, while a delegation of 100 French enterprises will explore partnership possibilities with Hong Kong and mainland SMEs. From the mainland, 18 provinces and cities have confirmed participation.

TDC Chairman Peter Woo said that Hong Kong is the one-of-a-kind SME haven for proprietary enterprises - the world capital of SMEs. "With China's 'going out' policy, Hong Kong now plays another role of helping mainland firms reach out to world markets."

Running concurrently with World SME Expo is the Innovation and Design Expo, showcasing the latest practical technologies and design solutions to help the manufacturing and service sectors enhance their competitive edge.

Of particular interest is the Business of Design Week (November 19 - 23) which often features internationally renowned figures at their international conference and forum. Lifestyle gurus such as Philippe Starck, Frank Gehry and Tadao Andao spoke at last year's event, while this year's speakers will include Hans-Kristian Hoejsgaard, president of Georg Jensen, and Stefano Marzano, CEO and chief creative director of Phillips Design.
