The World SME Forum will be a one-stop platform for SMEs around the world to network and exchange ideas
Thousands of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from around the world will gather in Hong Kong, the "world capital for SMEs", for an opportunity to connect with each other and explore business possibilities in the world's fastest growing economy - the Chinese mainland.

The World SME Expo, organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (TDC), is expected to attract more than 400 exhibitors and over 30,000 visitors. It will be held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from November 21 - 23.

The three-day event, billed as "the only one of its kind in the world," promises to be a one-stop platform for SMEs around the world to network and exchange ideas through a series of value-added conferences, presentations and symposiums.

The International SME Conferences allow participants and visitors to explore global business opportunities in countries such as France, India, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Spain, Japan, Mexico, the US, Eastern Europe, Middle East, Thailand and Malaysia.

Identifying opportunities in China

Those interested in the huge mainland market can opt for the Mainland Enterprise Presentations. Private enterprises from various industries in different parts of China will present their business projects with Hong Kong and overseas SMEs and discuss partnership and joint venture possibilities.

There will also be a series of networking events on 13 growing industries ranging from logistics, garments and toys to food, footwear and optical products.

To help SMEs maintain their competitive edge in an increasingly competitive global marketplace, there will be special attractions such as an Applied Technology Pavilion.

Running concurrently with the World SME Expo will be the Innovation and Design Expo (IDE), featuring more than 200 design service professionals from 12 countries and territories. A special highlight is the Scandinavian Design Day, with presentations by award-winning designers like Stefan Lindfors, president and CEO of Georg Jensen, Hans-Kristian Hoejsgaard and other prominent designers from the key design hubs of Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden.

Information sharing

IDE will also feature a Brand Building Square, a Green Corner to explore the implications of environmental technology for SMEs, and Creatland providing information on how to protect intellectual property rights.

Also running concurrently with these two events will be the Business of Design Week (November 19 - 23) and the Hong Kong Forum (November 21 - 22), where a series of high-level discussions on Hong Kong, China and Asia-wide business issues will be held.
