Jun He Law Offices ("Jun He"), one of the largest and most recognised law firms based in the Chinese mainland, recently set up its Hong Kong Branch.
Following the establishment of its Beijing head office and branch offices in Shanghai, Shenzhen, Dalian, Haikou and New York, Jun He is making a strategic move to further expand its regional presence. It aims at gaining better access to the global arena through its Hong Kong platform, and at the same time, further satisfy its clients' legal needs in cross-border commercial activities, and provide more efficient services.
The Hong Kong Branch Office provides legal services in areas such as investment, finance, mergers and acquisitions, and securities. There are currently 5 partners and senior consultants based in Hong Kong.
In addition to the Hong Kong Branch Office, Jun He joins force with X. J. Wang & Co., Solicitors for even closer and broader cooperation with Hong Kong-based law firms.
Ma Hongli, the Managing Partner of Jun He Law Offices, said: "The establishment of the Hong Kong Branch Office indicates that Jun He has evolved into a new stage. China's entry into the WTO and increasing economic relations between the mainland and Hong Kong, especially unprecedented business opportunities arising from China's fast developing economy, mean there is a great need for PRC-related legal services.
Window to international trade
"The opening of the Hong Kong Branch Office will add a new edge to Jun He for capturing such opportunities. Jun He will take good advantage of the role of Hong Kong, a window to international finance and trade, to develop its regional dominance and to enhance the mutually beneficial complements in the mainland and Hong Kong. At the same time, Jun He will improve its service quality to satisfy the diverse needs of its domestic and overseas clients with a view to expand global presence."
The Director-General of Investment Promotion at Invest Hong Kong, Mike Rowse, said Jun He's presence "will certainly strengthen Hong Kong's overall competitiveness as the two-way platform for international and mainland companies to manage their businesses."
Founded in April 1989, Jun He was one of the first private PRC law firms in China. Currently, Jun He has 52 partners. In 2005, Jun He was given the honour of the "Outstanding Law Firm of China" and "Outstanding Law Firm of Beijing" respectively by the All-China Lawyers Association and Beijing Lawyers Association. Multilaw and Lex Mundi, two multinational lawyer organisations, selected Jun He as the only member to represent Chinese law firms.
