Ross Human Directions founder Julia Ross says that Hong Kong is an important bridgehead for the company due to its sophistication and infrastructure |
Australian human resources company Ross Human Directions delibrately created a large Asian footprint in Hong Kong as a step into the rest of Asia and the Chinese mainland, according to its founder Julia Ross.
Ms Ross, who started her company with one employee and went on to open 50 operations in six countries, said Hong Kong's sophistication and infrastructure are important bridgeheads for the company.
"Hong Kong is very good for us as it is a corridor from Australia to Asia and Europe. A lot of people move around in these areas, so we can get people from different parts," said Ms Ross.
The Hong Kong office is important for us due to its sophistication and infrastructure, creates a huge footprint in Asia and is an important step into China," she added.
Ms Ross said that no longer does a firm come to her and ask to recruit a single staff member. The company has developed services that address clients' attrition rates, with outsourcing and training increasingly significant aspects of the business.
"Increasingly, our clients will ask us to look at their overall human resources services and tell us their expansion plans so looking forward, we can help them recruit the right people," she explained.
Hong Kong, she said, is in a better position than many other countries which suffer from talent shortage. "The economy can grow better here because of the talent and indeed, talents here are quite well-placed."
