Uruguayan business group, Embryotech Uruguay, has chosen Hong Kong for its first Asia-Pacific venture. The company's beef-trading division recently set up Union Pacific Ltd to import, distribute, market and retail high quality Angus beef via a newly launched shop in Hong Kong.
Embryotech Uruguay aims to meet the growing demand for high quality beef products in Hong Kong and across the region. The company also plans to launch a food factory which will begin production of Angus Beef Burgers by the end of this year.
"Hong Kong is the ideal location for us to introduce our products to the region. It offers a strong and discerning customer base who we feel will appreciate the quality, taste and low-fat content of our beef. It also has an excellent transportation infrastructure and is located close to all the major markets in Asia. Our business relies on a premium service to ensure our products reach the customer in a timely and hygienic fashion. In Hong Kong we find the ideal conditions," said Paola Ramirez, Director of Union Pacific Ltd.
The company, which already provides high quality meat cuts to five-star chefs worldwide, will trade under the brand name Don Pacho and aims to provide the highest quality beef to retail and wholesale customers. Uruguayan Angus beef is famous for its taste, succulence and low-fat content.
Charles Ng, Associate Director-General at Invest Hong Kong said he is confident that Hong Kong's market of high-end consumers, along with the infrastructure needed to import, market and distribute a high-value product will form the basis of success of Don Pacho's regional plans.
The company also announced its plans to expand into manufacturing beef dishes and later open a chain of Don Pacho restaurants. Source: InvestHK
