Teaching of the Kellogg-HKUST EMBA Porgramme is shared equally between Kellogg and HKUST faculty |
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) has for the first time topped the world in an international ranking of executive MBA programmes (EMBA).
The programme which is run in partnership with Kellogg School of Management in Chicago and Miami came first in the London-based Financial Times Global EMBA rankings. It is listed Number 1 for "work experience" of its participants, Number 2 in "international faculty" and Number 3 in "international students.'
Prof. Leonard Cheng, Acting Dean of HKUST Business School, said: "This is an important milestone in Hong Kong as it is also the first time commercial education in Hong Kong has ranked globally as number one."
Prof. Steven DeKrey, Associate Dean and Founding Director of the EMBA programme, said the top ranking is the best gift to top off the programme's 10th anniversary. "We're not going to reach the top of the ranking unless both the partners are very powerful," he added.
The programme was launched in 1998 as a unique East-West partnership to offer the best managed education for international talent based in Asia. HKUST's EMBA programme first made it onto the FT's global rankings in 2003, when it was placed ninth. It reached second place in 2005 and was ranked third last year.
This year, the FT rankings table includes 90 EMBA programmes. Evaluation is based on the quality of their alumni, school and programme quality and the research capability of faculty.
