One of the CIS and Central Asia's fastest growing freight forwarding and logistics service companies, SOYUZTRANSLINK (STL), has opened a new office in Hong Kong to expand its presence in the industrial South China region.
"Strategically, South China is a very important office for STL as demand is growing in Central Asia and the CIS for manufactured goods and raw materials. Hong Kong is one of the world's biggest cargo hubs with excellent sea and air connections and we will see our business growing significantly in the coming years" said Erlan Dikhanbayev, Managing Director of STL.
Alan Kan who has more than 30 years experience in freight forwarding and logistics in Asia and Australasia was recntly appointed Director of STL Logistics Hong Kong Ltd.
"There is demand in Hong Kong and South China for freight forwarding services to and from Central Asia and the CIS. We are also aiming to develop the Australia and New Zealand markets in 2008. We expect to begin recruiting additional staff as our business grows," said Mr Kan.
STL has grown rapidly during the last 12 months opening offices in Singapore, India, Iran and Dubai as trading booms with the resource rich CIS and Central Asia region.
Central Asia and Russia are rich in natural resources such as oil, gas and minerals and has modern heavy industries such as steel plants. As the economies grow in the region demand for imported goods and materials is increasing.
STL provides a comprehensive range of freight services to destinations Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Ukraine, Russia through gateways in Qingdao as well as through Bandar Abbas port in Iran and has a well established network of partners in Europe, US and other parts of the world.
